Supine to Standing Exercises Copy
Transitioning the supine exercise to standing
- Supine positioning provides the support and reinforcement of the floor/plinth that may be necessary to assist the client to perform the exercise with control and focus.
- Once the supine position has been mastered OR if this position is uncomfortable or not ideal for the client then:

- The exercise could be performed in a standing position against the wall;
- Ensure that the client’s balance profile is sufficient to be safe
- Standing with soft knees is advised so that they can comfortably place the entire back (sacrum to thorax) and the back of the head against the wall.
- Propping could still be incorporated if needed
- Incorporating additional exercises as a combined effort (such as a semi or full squat or a “w” exercise with the arms)
