Fracture Risk
You can use CAROC, FRAX or the Fracture Risk Scale to determine fracture risk.
BUT you may not have access to the bone mineral density scores.
A quick way to gauge fracture risk without knowing BMD:
- Vertebral or hip fracture – high risk
- Wrist + vertebral or hip fracture – high risk
- Wrist fracture only – moderate risk
What does it mean if someone is high risk?
High risk means there is 20% chance they will have another fracture within the next 10 years, and may affect the exercises you choose and the activities you recommend modifying.
